Mitochondrial dysfunctions spell serious trouble. They are linked to diseases such as diabetes and cancer. Cells have ways to fight against the damages, but we do not yet understand how they do that. Thomas McWilliams's lab tries to find out just that. They have a tool which has brought them to the forefront of mitochondrial research.
