Meet the teacher! In 1990, Kimmo Vehkalahti was a first-year student of statistics at the University of Helsinki and an aspiring rock star. Kimmo likens lecturing to hundreds of students at a time to headlining a rock concert, as both instances call for good performance skills. Today, Kimmo is a social data scientist who teaches in the Master’s Programme in Contemporary Societies. ”Statistics might seem intimidating. One of the greatest things about teaching is to get students excited about a subject they initially thought they could not grasp.” The applications to our 35 International Master’s Programmes are open from 1 Dec 2020 to 15 Jan 2021.
