Professor Kim Vettenranta has had a key role in the development of treatment for childhood leukaemia in Finland. Today, 98% of Finnish children who develop the disease recover. Vettenranta’s professorship is funded by donations: the University decided to establish the position with a donation made by the Finnish Red Cross Blood Service for the field of education in medical sciences and pharmacy.
