Artturi Ilmari Virtanen got a Nobel prize award in Chemistry in 1945, but his pioneering research on Propionic Acid Bacteria (PAB) hasn't gotten much attention. Now a new PAB strain was named after him to honour A.I. Virtanen and his work.
