We are committed to reducing energy and water consumption in university buildings by 10% and to produce renewable energy on site, to account for at least 5% of the energy used, by 2025. The Viikki campus is home to a large solar power plant. The solar electricity generated by the power plant is fed into the grid we own on the Viikki campus. The expanded power plant covers approximately 4% of the annual electricity consumption of the Viikki campus properties. Another solar power plant is in operation on the roof of Chemicum on the Kumpula campus since the summer of 2021. Lammi's biological station and the student building at the Tvärminne Zoological Station are also heated almost entirely by solar and geothermal heat and wood chips.
