Meet the teacher! In 2000, Veli-Pekka Tynkkynen had just started his PhD studies in geography at the University of Helsinki. In the picture, he is at Arbat, a Moscow street that has inspired artists and dissidents for over a century. Today, Veli-Pekka is a professor in Russian environmental studies. He leads a research team that focuses on energy, natural resource and climate issues in Russia. He also teaches in the Master's Programme in Russian Studies. “The students are taught by teacher-scholars that have wide expertise in societal outreach, in addition to high-level basic research.” The applications are still open until 15 Jan 2021 to our 35 International Master’s Programmes.
