These trips to the Highlands and Islands with his classmates sparked his interest in memorials and the uses of historical memory. From fishers in her family to countless summers spent in the archipelago, she considers the sea to be in her genes. Today, Jaanika is a marine biologist who teaches in the Master’s Programme in Environmental Change and Global Sustainability. “I enjoy field courses, and they provide me with energy for the rest of my teaching.
