Meet the teacher! In 1994, Elizabeth Peterson was graduating from college in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her lifelong dream was journalism, and soon after she began working at The Salt Lake Tribune, the major daily newspaper in Salt Lake City. She liked working with words and language, but wanted to sink her thoughts into something in a deeper way and found herself thinking about linguistics. Today, Elizabeth is a linguist teaching in the Master’s Programme in English Studies. Her first book, Making Sense of "Bad English:" An introduction to language attitudes and ideologies, was published last fall. "Language unites us as people, and language divides us as people. My research, writing, and teaching address this balance." The applications are currently open to our 35 International Master’s Programmes. Apply before 15 Jan 2021.
